New Tales of the Great Wall

riiiiiiiiing! I woke to the sound of my alarm clock screaming. The sky was still dark. I was half asleep
because I played video games until midnight last night. So I could barely pick up my body and go to
wash and change clothes to go to school. I arrived just before the bell rang!!!!!

I could hardly breathe when I ran up the staircase. I didn’t want to be late for assembly!!! The
lesson was Mathematics lesson. It was so boring. Suddenly, I heard Lawrence calling me from
the playground. I went out of the classroom and saw him waving at me. I quickly went down the staircase but no
one was there! By the gate, I saw a tour bus, with a colourful banner ‘One Day Great Wall Tour’. In no time, I
quickly jumped onto the tour bus. The tour bus drove off with a blast immediately. WITHOUT A DRIVER!

When I opened my eyes, I was in a place out of ‘Temple Run’ on my i-Phone. I did not know where I was
so I quickly took out my i-Phone to navigate around. It told me that I was on the Great Wall! I walked up the
stairs and saw the blue, open sky stretching out. I expected to see a long dragon coming into view. In fact, I
could only see the Emperor ordering people to push rocks and cut stones to build the big, enormous Great Wall
relentlessly! I thought his behaviour was so cruel. Those workers were extremely exhausted. Why didn’t he
build it himself? I went to him and said, ‘‘Why don’t you use machines to do that?”
The Emperor said “Who are you? Why are you here? Soldiers, arrest him!”
I ran away. But I needed to rescue those workers from this hell. I shouted at them, “Who wants to leave?
Follow me!” All the workers followed me. It was as if I was one of the characters from ‘Temple Run’. I was the
record holder of this game! Soon after, I couldn’t see the soldiers. And also the……WORKERS! I was really
frightened. I couldn’t see anyone! I didn’t know where I was! After a few seconds, I remembered that I still had
my i-Phone in my pocket. I tried to take it out to navigate my way. But where was it? FRONT POCKET? NO!
BACK POCKET? NO! There was only one word to explain it, “LOST!!!!!” The soldiers reappeared. I turned
and ran. Unfortunately, I bumped my head against the wall.
My Mathematics teacher yelled angrily, “WAKE UP, Paco!” I opened my eyes and saw the teacher throwing
the book which she used to knock me awake on my head. I then realised that the book’s title was ‘New Tales of
the Great Wall’! Then the teacher punished me by sending me out of the classroom to face the wall.
I had just finished my ‘One Day Great Wall Tour’ daydream; now, I was starting another ‘Great Wall Facing
Tour’!!!!!
